The law, in plain words
These rights apply to business-to-business invoices. They do not apply to private consumers.
- EU. When a business client pays late, you can claim statutory interest of at least the reference rate plus 8 percentage points, and a fixed sum of at least EUR 40 for recovery costs, without sending a reminder first. Each country sets the exact rate (Germany, for example, uses its base rate plus 9 points). Source: Directive 2011/7/EU, Article 6 and Article 2.
- UK. Statutory interest is 8% plus the Bank of England base rate, unless your contract sets a different rate. Fixed sums: GBP 40 up to 999,99, GBP 70 up to 9.999,99, GBP 100 from 10.000. Source: gov.uk, late commercial payments.
- Elsewhere. Rules differ. The kit uses the late fee from your contract, if you have one, and leaves statutory claims out.
Questions
Is this legal advice?
No. Overdue Kit gives you letter templates and a calculator based on the public rules linked above. For large debts or a dispute about the work itself, talk to a lawyer.
Does my client have to pay the interest and compensation?
In the EU and UK, the law gives a business creditor these rights on late business invoices. Whether you claim them is your choice. Many people use letter 3 as the point where they claim them. The kit cannot force anyone to pay.
What happens after I pay?
Letters 2 to 5, the calendar file and the print layout unlock at once on this page, in this browser. You see your PayPal order ID. Keep it.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The calculator and letters run in your browser. Only the payment goes through PayPal. See the privacy policy.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Ask within 14 days of purchase and you get your money back. See the refund policy.
Who makes this?
An independent maker in Germany. See the imprint.
